Singapore is an island country in Southeast Asia, just off the Malay Peninsula and 85 miles north of the equator. The country is well developed with leaning skyscrapers, diverse communities and unique buildings.
Singapore has many cultures living within it, as a result there is a very diverse way of life with people speaking many languages and worshiping a number of different religions.
In 1963 Singapore gained independence from the United Kingdom.
Many of the people who lived in Singapore went there from India, Malaysia and China in seek of labouring work to earn money.
The island is small and has a population of 5,312,400. Its currency is the Singapore dollar. That currency is highly valued in the international market.
An air ticket for a Sri Lankan citizen to travel to that country costs around Rs. 80,000. Also, holders of Sri Lankan passports do not need a visa to enter Singapore. On-arrival facility is available.
Singapore is full of tourist attractions. There are many places in Singapore for a tourist to visit and relax, such as Singapore Flyer, Night Safari, Zoological Garden, Orchard Road, China Town, Little India, Singapore River (Boat Quay / Clarke Quay) and Merlion Park.
Singapore is a country full of sweet aromas of various cuisines. It stands out for its variety of foods. There you can find food in any country, city or place. From Chinese to ordinary Indian food is available in Singapore. Local vendors selling street food are everywhere. They also care about the quality and cleanliness of the food.
